.[Alamos composite: 18k]

The white kite escaped

floated free like a gull
across the flat evening indigo
of mountain

descended into the blood red
flowers of bougainvillea
onto the thorns

hung

until the rains
washed it free

floated down the arroyo
into the soft shroud
of compost

at the inside curve
of the arroyo Santa Cruz.
